An Introduction to this Blog

Hi there! My name is Amanda, and I am a twenty-something young professional living in the Boston area. I have a few things going for me- I am recently engaged as of a few months ago. I have an adorable cat who definitely knows how adorable he is. And I am currently working in tech at a large software company.

Like many young adults (whether they admit it or not), I don't really have any "hobbies". I don't play in a rec sports league, I don't collect stamps, I don't knit, and I suck at art. Although, when I searched "Wikipedia" for hobbies, I saw "spreadsheets" listed there. Maybe there is hope for me after all.

BUT, make no mistake. "Boring" people like myself do NOT enjoy being bored.

Many Friday evenings, I have that "oh shit" moment of realizing I have no plans. I find myself in a cycle of Googling "what to do in Boston when bored" and getting the same touristy results every time. I love the Freedom trail, but I do not want to do that every weekend.

COVID-19 made this even more challenging, especially in the wintertime. Whereas before, my friends and I could cozy up inside of a restaurant, this January we either soldiered on outside with a blanket and 3 coats each or simply didn't hang out at all; instead opting for the warmth of our own apartments.

I wanted to make this blog to document fun ways to spend your free time in the Boston area. This will span across restaurants/bars, indoor and outdoor activities, quick afternoon ideas or full weekend trips, and even ideas for staying in.

I will use tags on my posts like "chill", "inside", "food", "active", and more to help you choose your own adventure. I hope you have as much fun with this as I will!
